2015, 16.1+ hand BIG bodied Belgian Warmblood gelding by the most famous and accomplished show jumping sire of all time, Darco. Darco has produced the most offspring competing at the Grand Prix level in the world.
Monkey is not only the most handsome horse on this planet he is also an absolute pleasure to have in the barn in every aspect. The vet loves him, the farrier loves him, everyone loves him. He is 100% best friend material!
Monkey was bred and raised at the beautiful SE Farms in Oregon by owner Rose Sullivan who is widley known for breeding hundreds of top athletes in our industry.
Monkey then went to California where he spent 3 years being leased by a wonderful adult amateur who competed him up to 1.20m.
Although Monkeys show record is not a mile long it is due to no fault of his own. His leaser simply preferred quality time riding her horse over showing extensively. When the lease expired Monkey had a break back in Oregon and then traveled to Waco, Texas where he has resided in full training for the past year.
Monkey is a blast to jump. He is bold and he knows his job. He is also wonderful on the flat as he has a soft mouth, keeps a rhythm and is responsive to aids. He loves a good stretchy trot and cantering around on the buckle. I believe Monkey could also be competitive in the dressage ring. Lead changes are not perfectly auto just yet, but they are coming along. This is an extremely special horse that we feel would be best suited for an AA in a program or a young pro who wants to build a strong relationship with their horse. He has only competed in the jumper arena however he has the look and attitude to possibly do all three rings if given the right directions. He has no experience with cross country therefor we are not advertising him as an eventing prospect (sorry friends!). Although I have put a greener rider on Monkey for flat work and he was absolutely perfect I do feel he is too sensitive to be a full time beginner horse. I can see him being that packer type in a few years. Monkey has no buck or rear. I wouldnt label him as spooky, but he does notice things and is alert. He is easy to focus and has never made me feel unsafe in any situation. I've even put my own mother on him for a dressage clinic! (and yes, I love my mom!)
Sound, UTD on everything. May require some maintence if jumping alot and working hard. Xrays of hocks, stifles and front feet available. Teeth floated 3/28.
