Half Pad

A half pad is a smaller cut of saddle pad designed to provide some more cushion directly below the saddle. They can be made of foam, gel, or other materials.

A half pad can't fix a poorly fitting saddle, but if a saddle is only slightly too wide for your horse, then a half pad can remedy that. If you have a saddle that's just a little too wide, then look for a half pad with some extra cushion to it to help build up the space between your horse's back and the saddle. (horze)
